Another great dive was had in Carlingford on Sunday (21st Oct). Martello I with 10 divers was accompanied by Dundalk SAC’s two RIBs (carrying their own divers and the overflow from PSAC!!!) to no. 10 Marker Buoy near the mouth of the lough. A lovely wall dive was had by all. Wildlife including lots of lobster and shrimp was in abundance. We hit slack water at low tide so max depth was around the 16m mark.
There is a dive on Saturday 19th May to the Marley. Meet at the boathouse in Portmarnock at 10am. To do this dive you need to be dived up to 25 metres and a minimum of club diver. Ed is DOD. Contact him if you are interested.

Dingle, Co. Kerry is the venue for this year’s Easter Weekend - April 5th - 9th (4 nights). Some thirty divers and hangers-on will be travelling down. Accommodation costs are €115 per person sharing. Monies will be collected at the pool on Wednesday night - cheques should be made payable to PSAC. Alternatively you can post payment to Leah - see Members Area for contact details.

Is anyone interested in a dive on the Alisdair on Sunday. Its a wreck in Strangford Lough. Its a shore dive to about 22m (I think?), but its always a very dark dive so a torch is an absolute must. The plan will be to drive up and do two dives. If you want to do two dives you’ll need to bring 2 bottles as theres no compressor there, and some food and a flask, its a long way from town.
Let Fiona know if you’re interested - see Members Area for contact details.
Thanks to the members of Dundalk SAC for taking a few of us out for a dive last Sunday morning on ‘their turf’.
Both weather and diving were good, we dived a wall just south of No. 9 marker buoy in Carlingford Lough. Although not the best dive this year, it was many times better than the conditions in Dublin Bay the previous week.
Dundalk have a fantastic setup and although they have two great looking boats I still found it hard to believe the two pristine Range Rovers used to tow them were club vehicles! EO, can we get one of them!?!
A brief trip report and some images from the August trip to Downings have been posted here.
Last Wednesday (July 19th) was a special night, once of those times when everything just comes together to make a great night. You couldn’t have had a better night if you had planned for it.
The email from Fiona said Wednesday night dive, Howth, 7.00 pm ready to go. When Fiona is the DO, 7.00pm ready to go means everyone sitting in the boat, all the gear stowed, pulling away at 7.00pm and God help you if you aren’t ready you will undoubtedly be left behind to wave to us as we depart. However, the evening was warm, the mood was relaxed and the crew was in good form. A couple of phone calls to say that people were delayed by traffic would usually be met with a blunt tough, they should have left earlier, but not on this occasion. And so it was that at 7.30pm, the fleet departed with a full crew, including the latecomers and set sail for Lambay. (more…)
