Carlingford 2 & PFOs

Another great dive was had in Carlingford on Sunday (21st Oct). Martello I with 10 divers was accompanied by Dundalk SAC’s two RIBs (carrying their own divers and the overflow from PSAC!!!) to no. 10 Marker Buoy near the mouth of the lough. A lovely wall dive was had by all. Wildlife including lots of lobster and shrimp was in abundance. We hit slack water at low tide so max depth was around the 16m mark.

The post dive BBQ got in to action soon after returning to shore. Tea, coffee, sausages, chicken, bread, chocolate, bikkies, buns, etc. were provided. Well done and thanks to all those involved in organising the feast.

A significant event for the day was the return to scuba of one of our esteemed members (yours truly!) after almost a year’s absence. The lay off was due to the discovery of a small hole in my heart (Patent Foramen Ovale) following an ‘undeserved’ bend in October ‘06. I had keyhole surgery to close the PFO back in July. Three months, one checkup and countless snorkels later and I got the all clear to return to diving. Roll on Mevagh!

Cathal.
