Way back in October the busy people in Committeeland submitted an application to the department of Arts, Sports and Tourism for funding. There’s nothing unusual about that, we’ve done it every year for God knows how long.

What is unusual however, is that in the past couple of weeks I got a reply back saying our application was successful! I had to read it several times before I could believe it, and even then our Treasurer and that April fools gag came to mind. After investigating a bit further I’m delighted to confirm that it is true…a first for PSAC. God bless elections ;-)

The funding is tied to the purchase of a low-pressure compressor and membrane system that will connect to our existing (blue) compressor to produce a Nitrox mix of up to 40% oxygen. The benefits above our existing system is that it’s safer (no need to use 100% oxygen at any stage in the process), it’s fully supported by the compressor manufacturer and it makes Nitrox available to all qualified club members at no additional cost.

Any club divers that aren’t yet Nitrox qualified, get yourself on the next course!

Congratulations to all concerned on a job well done! Just goes to show that persistence pays off.
