Christmas Party

The club’s Christmas Party this year was another joint affair with ALSAA Sub Aqua club. The ALSAA complex was the venue and there was a great turn out from both clubs.

The more formal aspect of the evening was kicked-off by ALSAA who presented numerous awards to their members including the coveted ‘Plonker Of The Year’ award. As our esteemed Chairman pointed out, there are no plonkers in PSAC so our sole award, Diver Of The Year, was presented to our Equipment Officer, John Norton, for his sterling contribution to the club during 2006. Owing to time constraints, it was not possible to play John’s favourite Top-10 hits of all time:

  1. I’m On Fire - Bruce Springsteen
  2. Smoke Gets In Your Eyes - The Platters
  3. Blaze Of Glory - Bon Jovi
  4. Light My Fire - The Doors
  5. His Latest Flame - Elvis Presley
  6. Ring Of Fire - Johnny Cash
  7. Eternal Flame - The Bangles
  8. Great Balls Of Fire - Jerry Lee Lewis
  9. Burning Down The House - Talking Heads
  10. Beds Are Burning - Midnight Oil

After the meal ‘Loose Change’ took to the stage and entertained both clubs into the wee small hours. Thanks to all those who attended and made it a great night. Special thanks to Leah (again) for all the hard work put into organising the night and decorating the room.

  1. Owen Edwards Says:

    Hey Donal,

Can we add a comment about those people missing from the Christmas party because they accidentally formed the PSTC (Portmarnock Sub Terrain Club) and had to get up early this morning to initially freeze to death outside only to enter the swealthering depths of Dublin’s north city.

That is Myself, Liz and Clodagh ran the Dublin Port Tunnel 10K today. I only glimpsed Clodagh briefly around 3K when she scorched past me, never to be seen again. There was one other fellow scuba diver involved. Though she was unknown, she had prepared herself in the event of a flood by wearing a snorkel and mask.

4.5K in both directions with a quick turn around at Clonshaugh round about (the quicker the better) and back into the depths.

It was a good run, ie I finished and I didn’t have to pay the €12 toll fee!

    Owen.

  2. Former Chairman Says:

Well Done John Norton, keep up the good work. Sorry I wasn’t there to witness the handing over of the new ‘Sean Power’ Diver of the Year trophy. Colin
